Sterling Gordon Fournier, known online as IdkSterling, is a 26-year-old American content creator born on December 29, 1998, in Boise, Idaho. He is best known for his educational short-form videos, typically accompanied by the track Shanty Village from the game Yume Nikki and narrated with a text-to-speech voice affectionately called “Santa” by both Sterling and his community.
Rise of the Memes & Community Culture
Sterling’s community is heavily shaped by meme culture. In late 2023, comments such as “IdkSterling oiled up strapped down on a bed” began appearing under his videos. Sterling responded humorously, sparking a wave of fan-made edits including Gmod nextbots, Viggle AI dances, and parody videos using his signature format. By 2024, this evolved into a full meme ecosystem: fans making jokes were labeled “The Opps”, while a fan later created The Allies, acknowledged by Sterling himself.
